A notice says these were saxon hunting woods. The same can probably be said for a lot of these lands, but here in Shotover, near Oxford, you can still believe it.

In the middle of Broad Street, Oxford, surrounded with tarmac, the martyr's cross is where Bishops Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley, and Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, were burnt at the stake for their beliefs.
